what is Fart Party?

Why do I not consider Fart Party a web comic?
While there are no clear definitions of web comics, they’re largely understood to be comics that exist in full on the internet and perhaps later in print. While I may have posted the majority of comics I made years ago, I have since weaned my stories off the internet and solely into book form. I make roughly 12 pages of comics a week, posting only perhaps one or two of them, and I’m currently working on 2 books that will never appear on the internet because the internet is not a fun place to exist.
So then, what is it?
The Fart Party is an autobiographical comic what is meant to be taken facetiously at times. Updated once or twice a week, the comics posted very loosely follow the daily events of the author, plus the infrequent one about her childhood, embarrassing beliefs, daily struggles, daily failures, funny mishaps, good advice, bad advice and every day bullshit. If you want to closely follow the events, you have to buy the books.
the Fart Party began in late 2005 when Julia was living in San Francisco where Julia worked as a waitress and barista, living in a less than ideal situation with her boyfriend. After she quit her job, got dumped and got the wanderlust, Julia moved back home for a few months before packing up and moving to Brooklyn, New York where she has since bounced from job to job and apartment to apartment before finally settling in a small studio in Greenpoint where she works as a full time cartoonist and writer.
The comics in the archives can be read separately or together, as they skim a 4 year timeline, sometimes even getting slightly political. Comics also sometimes appear in stick figure form when Julia am traveling or too lazy to make real ones and sometimes she posts a comic from her melodramatic secret comics diary and sometimes the comics get uncomfortably meta.
If you’ve never read the Fart Party, I suggest you start at the beginning and see if you want to waste your time wallowing through this crap.
thanks for humoring me,
Julia Wertz
