Don't forget - in software development, as in most things, you get what you pay for and you pay for what you get. Be VERY picky about your intern's proclaimed abilities and make sure you thoroughly lay out all the terms of the engagement.

As a software engineer, I can tell you that cheap and/or free projects, while having the benefit of being cheap and/or free, often produce predictably bad results for the client.

If you do proceed with the project, be sure to charge yourself something each time you ask your intern for a feature. That way you don't inadvertently fall into the trap of abusing your free help. Trust me, it happens frequently in these situations.

For what it's worth...

I'd be able to help you Julia, but I'd just need to know what you need. As far as I can tell you just want the same layout/presentation without having to use blogger or wordpress, right?

Every single post on here seems to be unrelated to helping you find someone to build your website. I just wanted to make a recommendation - if you have trouble finding someone you should try an art/graphic design school. You can post it in internship listings. It's a great way to get some free work and since grades are depending on it - the students tend to be pretty reliable. Just a thought.

I know that we have had graphic design interns from MCAD (Minneapolis College of Art and Design) and it has been pretty successful.

Why don't you want it to operate off of wordpress? Seems like you just need a more user friendly wordpress theme. Or did you want groovy flash animations where you have to click on your ass to enter and it makes a fart sound?
