Here is why I think you are arriving at the wrong conclusion: over summer break one year my dorm installed a sprinkler system, but since the building was pretty much one solid concrete pour they couldn't put it through the ceilings and walls without it taking way too long and costing a lot of money. So instead they ran the pipes through our rooms. What seemed obvious to me was that the pipe wouldn't *bend*. It would meet a vertical pipe at a right angle, like so: |-. That pipe was probably already in the wall, and the one running through the apartment was likely added at a later date as a retrofit/upgrade/whatever.

I'm sure your house had PLENTY of hidden rooms, Stevie. And maybe you're right. After putting that much effort into accurately portraying her apartment, Wertz drew that back wall wonky AND forgot the pipe running through her bedroom. Uh huh.

If the pipe would fit into a wall, it wouldn't be outside the walls in the first place. just look at the bend in the right corner, the wall had to be gigantic! which of course would be a big wast of space.

As a child, I used to search our house for hidden rooms in the walls, thats why I still notice such things. Also, I had to find out if my sisters had bigger rooms than me :-)

Or, you know, maybe the pipe connects to one in the wall, and DOESN'T continue through the bedroom. Because pipes do three-dimensional things.
