"I have lupus, I take a lot of pills." "Lupus? That don't sound like no <em>real</em> disease." (Lucky she didn't say 'poopus'.) Some wit (probably more than one: Twain, Mencken, Will Rogers?) remarked on what a pity it is that the wisest men in our society waste their talents cutting hair, shining shoes and driving cabs. Now one could add: screening air passengers. Anyway, my acquaintance fortunately had with her some flyers for a book she wrote on living with lupus.
