one man’s trash…
Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007I actually kinda hate that I have to do all of this, because it reminds me of being in college. but at least it’s better than the air mattress. I found a bike too, and with a lil’ elbow grease and some new tire tubes, it’s as good as, um, as it was in 1972.

Pretty resourceful there! I’ve actually found some good shit in trash. Once I actually found a vcr that, after a thorough cleaning and buying a box of toothpicks (to push missing buttons) it worked like a champ! Hehe

Julia, BE CAREFUL OF BEDBUGS!!!! Make sure you check every piece of wood for little black specks around any cracks or seams. Believe me, I know: having bed bugs is NO FUN.

Idem?

If you have any friends with a car, have them take you cruising around some rich neighborhoods. Rick people in NYC throw out the most amazing, pristine shit ever. Butterfly collections in wood and glass cases, new furniture that’s not in this season, oodles of books, you name it.
And yes, shit and god damn watch out for bed bugs.

You should check out Brooklyn Heights or Ft. Greene. There’s plenty of good dumpster divin’ swag there.

raising your standards wouldn’t be a terrible thing. i know… “another man’s treasure…” i just want you to have nicer things.
October 2nd, 2007 at 4:21 pm
well in order to do that, I’d have to have some goddamn money. I dont take shit off the street because I think it looks nice.

i just think you should hold out for nicer street shit.

I’ve had the rolling stool (broken office chair) too! Although mine was the remains of a chair we’ve had for a long time.
For some reason I find that chair awesome, despite the pretty severe risk of me falling off and cracking my skull on a caster.

watch out for bed bugs!! they are evil little fuckers. they are like invisible or something. when i first moved to new york, i got a dresser off the street in manhattan and it was a horrible mistake. i had to call the exterminator.

Nothing wrong with dumpster diving. It’s one of few skills I can actually utilize that I learned in college.
If you haven’t seen these books, you might find them interesting. I’m sure you probably have, though.

Honestly, though, I’m fascinated by just about anything Paladin publishes…
