July 5th, 2007 at 1:37 pm
What the hell was she doing with a tortoise in the city?
July 5th, 2007 at 2:02 pm
Yo Jules, where in the hell in NYC did this happen? The size of that turtle is surreal.
July 5th, 2007 at 2:09 pm
Did she get that out of a sewer?
July 5th, 2007 at 2:18 pm
welcome back!! glad to hear you had fun in NYC. that city infects like a mind virus and pulls all the cool people in…
oh, side note— can you point me toward an easy way to get Laura’s zine Do Not Disturb My Waking dream? I heard from a few people that it’s amazing and wannnna check IT out :B

I’ve seen bigger.

The back-and-forth illustrator work in this strip is awesome. It’s like when two people are so excited to tell you about their afternoon that when one of them is only halfway through the anecdote the second one interrupts to jump in with a new funny detail.

Dude now that is a fucking tortoise!
July 5th, 2007 at 3:18 pm
Okay, I was bummed about you moving to NYC instead of Portland, but now i TOTALLY GET IT.
July 5th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
I’m glad your most recent trip to the East coast was more amusing than horific. My g/f and I saw you at MoCCA, and though anticlimatic, I’m glad we went;)

Hot Diggedy but I missed the Fart Party while it was away.
July 5th, 2007 at 5:25 pm
well what did you expect? That I was made of cotton candy and ready to do somersaults and handstands for your amusement? sorry to dissappoint you.
robin- it happened in brooklyn near 6th and flatbush, in this crazy store full of olden timey toys
ryan- laura’s all out of the minis she made for MoCCA, but I’m sure she’ll print more….LAURA PRINT MORE MINIS NOW!
July 5th, 2007 at 6:36 pm
That’s a tortoise.
July 5th, 2007 at 10:01 pm
you loooove that cotton candy! don’t you! That’s right, never sharin’ and shit…
so ny now? cool. I call the couch, or a tiny piece of floor where I can spend my drunken stupor.

Anyone else think the tortoise lady was Asian until they scrolled down to the photo and saw an obviously African foot?
Also: “Obviously African Foot” would make a cool name for a band.

No.

Julia, best wishes on the move to the Big Apple. Have the time and meet the people and experience the stuff of your life.
For me, the ONLY major draw back to NYNY is the cold winters. It can get colder than the inner circle of Dante’s Hell at times. Jeebus. All the other challenges are easily dealt with. But that cold…that’s a whole new set of woes. It’s balanced by the most amazing spring in Central Park and the best autumn in the village ever to be experienced.
When Susan and I head that way this fall as planned, we’ll drop you a line and make you show us the tortoise lady. The old timey toys are something I gotta see. And the tortoise, too of course.
Stay warm, lady.

Hmm, pleasant. I was referring to the lengthy effort to navigate the convention. By the time we found you, it seemed epic. Somersaults would of been fantastic!
July 6th, 2007 at 3:23 pm
Is that Alec Longstreth’s tortoise? heh-heh
July 6th, 2007 at 6:47 pm
julia - thanks for the deets on LP’s zine
laura - PRINT MORE ZINES!! (pleez?)
also, this is super-dorky, but i just signed up for this and got excited about how easy it is for selling zines/minis/stupid crap via our site:
http://checkout.google.com/sell/
you can send invoices to spam people, or just make a little button people click to pay you for stuff. i’m gonna use this to get rid of some old comics, and eventually for the zine when we print that baby up!
=end of internet=great nerdity=
-ryan!

Quite a critter. Has it been frolicking in grey dust or is the photo’s color balance off?
