Aye that is a great song. Ever seen them live? They bring out this giant whale cutout that eats the whole band. Or at least thats how I remember it.

the decemberists is awesome. i love the way they tell a lot of stories in their songs. especially about mariners and soldiers and chinese trapezists. you should listen to joanna newsom, Ys. she tells some cool stories too.
and a button of a beer can is always a good button.

That song is pretty much brilliant. They would get the crowd to do the screaming and moaning during the part where the crew of the ship gets devoured, and then they would run out with the whale cut out and attack the band and the front row of the crowd. Oh, how I love the Decemberists. And how I love this freaking comic. Makes me jealous that I can’t write a damn thing to save my life, random comments aside.

The Decemberists cancelled their Vancouver show last November. Colin Meloy was apparently quite sick. Thanks for wrecking my honeymoon, sick Colin Meloy.
I still love them, though.

Yes! The Mariner’s Revenge Song! I made a music video for the Decemberists song “The Sporting Life” and I want to make one for the Mariner’s Revenge song, but I really don’t want to suck it up. Perhaps I’ll animate it.
