I really like the artwork in this one! Nice little details like the wrinkles in your sleeves.
This is kind of a cliffhanger, too!! Is she really never returning???
October 2nd, 2006 at 12:19 pm
east COAST!
October 2nd, 2006 at 12:22 pm
brian- nope, I”m not going back. fuck that place. It was an under the table job anyway, time to start looking for a “real job”
that is, after I get back from the east coast (sarah!)
October 2nd, 2006 at 12:33 pm
wooohooo! good for you. onto bigger & better things! change is exciting. xo

So now that the dazed, empty, panic and what am I going to do now feeling has passed.
Had you planned “what am I gonna do now”?
Is the Cartoon college option still open, or is it the life of a grubby vagrant that is calling.
There’s more beer & free expression & personal time involved in the vagrancy career options, less actual recognised work & you do get aggrivate young waitresses as part of the package.
Yay, go be a bum.

I looked at the first panel before reading the paragraph at the top and I thought that was a zombie Oliver hitting you with the door.
October 2nd, 2006 at 1:34 pm
good for you!
October 2nd, 2006 at 1:43 pm
Come to Los Angeles, you’d make more money anyway.
October 2nd, 2006 at 2:10 pm
It’s true, what Eurotrash said, but you’d also be taking the Metro for 2 hours each way.
C’mon down! Party on the Green Line!!! woo000t!!111

that is how i planned it, all you need is some bum paint and some “fake urine” sprinkled on some old clothes and a planeticket to san francisco. It really is that simple to get your girlfriend to extend her visit. if anyone wants to do the same with thier long distance other and needs supply’s feel free to burrow mine.
October 2nd, 2006 at 4:49 pm
bum paint. i’d like some. could come in handy.
julia, the east coast is much better. it’s closer to europe. we’re fab.
October 2nd, 2006 at 5:45 pm
Dude, you’re not even going to risk a defamation suit by telling us the name of the restaurant? I wanna go there and puke on the guys who wouldn’t help you out - I think that would be poetic justice.
Change = good. Congrats.
October 2nd, 2006 at 8:26 pm
You should totally stay on the East Coast! Then you and Dan and I can form a webcomic stripper consortium! Y’know, like Dumbrella, only much less popular.
October 2nd, 2006 at 10:43 pm
man that sucks, julia. we ARE in the same boat. maybe we could all just open a cafe/zinestore/hangout/cool band venue place and we’d all be set. Ahhh, every youngster’s dreeeeam…
which homeless guy was it? i pretty much know them all from living in the mission and working at hospitality house last year.
also, in solidarity, at La Onda, i kicked out this homeless woman a couple of weeks ago because she called jenica a bitch. the woman’s given me nothing but shit ever since then, when i see her on the street or when i have to kick her out again, which is nearly every day. although besides that occassional kind of thing, La Onda’s pretty generous with the homeless. not really sure what my point is…ah yes, SOLIDARITY.

New York is fun. There’s mad bike shit to do and lots of cool people everywhere you go. And you get to pay a lot of money for a shitty apartment! It’s great!
October 3rd, 2006 at 1:56 am
Well good for you! And it’s a great time to make a change, too! Go travel, visit your boyfriend, etc. and see what happens. Seriously, I think it’s a great move to make! You will be fine!
October 3rd, 2006 at 2:06 am
Fantastic! don’t take that crap anymore, go see your boy!
and now you have extra time to polish the floor with his head
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:46 am
Wow!
October 3rd, 2006 at 12:58 pm
so are you staying on the east coast? i’m heading out there this weekend, but missing SPX. kaz’ll be at SPX with the release of mourning star the collected #1-3.
if you come back, we should hang out… before i leave SF.
October 3rd, 2006 at 3:17 pm
You could always come work for me, in my court, entertainment or something.
October 3rd, 2006 at 3:18 pm
Ohh, and btw, we kill and eat the homeless here on the East Coast.
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:03 pm
Amen on that detail that Brian mentioned. Dang, girl…you are getting more betterer at this.
A composition suggestion. In panel three, have the character face the other direction, screaming at the phone. Leave panel 4 alone…she is facing right…showing movement and a transition.
Just a thought.
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:20 pm
Aw, just stay on the East Coast, attend the Center for Cartoon Studies (hosting a 24-Hour Comic event this coming weekend!) and join Trees & Hills!
You know you want to.
October 3rd, 2006 at 6:23 pm
dan barlow is a smart man. listen to him. you don’t even have to go to ccs. my place is still filthy. i can’t believe i live like this. i will even pay you,… saltines smeared with mustard
October 3rd, 2006 at 8:04 pm
YEAHAHAHAHA!!!! You go girl! You hittin’ up SPX? Or at least visiting NYC? SAY IT IS SO!
October 3rd, 2006 at 9:16 pm
sim- what I’m going to do now is spend a month away from home. after that, I don’t know. Cartoon college is still an option, but the grubby vagrant life might win out.
etrash- doing what? rimmers in the alley behind the bar?
oliver- you sneaky bastard. but I knew it was you all along, that’s why after the bum hit me with the door & called me a cunt, we made sweet love next to the trash cans in the basement of my work.
dan- I won’t name the restaurant because the owners are good, hardworking people & they need all the money and support they can get. the clientele, however, can be found at any hour at Valencia Pizza & Pasta, on the corner of 19th and Valenica in the mission district of san francisco.
nikolas- if I could open a place like that, I could die happy and overworked.
dan- since CCS is still an option (and I will be there this monday, checking shit out) then I still might end up in Vermont. and if I do, I will most certainly join trees & hills, as long as there’s beer & cookies.
liz- no, I don’t think I”ll be as SPX. I’ll be sooo close, yet still 500 miles away. I don’t know yet though, I’ll see what happens.
October 5th, 2006 at 9:49 am
damn, this one makes the following strip even better. well done.
February 6th, 2010 at 11:17 pm
Was this the Mission de San Francisco de Asis District or some other Mission District?
